To be honest, the fees for selling on eBay are convoluted. They change constantly. And any additional listing enhancement a seller wants is an additional fee. Keeping up with eBay fees can become time consuming.
So with that said, we’ll take a stab at briefly summarizing it for you. eBay charges a nominal $1 or $2 fee to list an item regardless if it sells. Then, depending on the category, eBay takes around a 9% commission when the item sells.
Occasionally eBay will run a promotion where they discount listing fees. For example, around Father’s Day they may remove listing fees for items being sold in Electronics or Men’s Watches categories.
Listing enhancements like bold, extra photos, and subtitles cost extra.
Fees are different for auctions and Buy-It-Now. Buy-It-Now fees a little bit higher. For example, eBay takes a 12% commission on most categories when an item sells via Buy-It-Now. You can view the full list of fees and how they’re broken out by visiting eBay’s selling fees page.
